The 15th annual World Golfers Championships & Invitational was held in the European Capital of Sports, Marbella, Spain, October 24 – 31, 2009.
Marbella, one of Costa del Sol’s major tourist centres, is a paradise for golf lovers and the home of a dozen magnificent golf courses amidst the unusual backdrop provided by the sea and the mountains. Santa Clara Golf Club was designed with utmost respect for the natural environment of indigenous wildlife and vegetation, providing a fantastic meeting place for golf enthusiasts.

Flamingos Golf ClubFlamingos Golf Club is characterized by its carefully conserved landscaping. This 18 hole, 5,714 m. par 71 course, was designed by the renowned architect Antonio Garcia Garrido and it boasts a pristine landscape, with lots of different varieties of trees and spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Greens are generous in size; the fairways are narrower on the first part of the course, where more precision is required than in the second; the bunkers are filled with crushed white marble sand; the fairways are covered in Bermuda, except on certain holes where grass has been used, whilst the greens and tees are covered in Penncross.

Flamingos Golf has hosted prestigious tournaments such as the European Seniors Championship in 2002, 2003, 2004, Spanish Women’s Open in the year 2010 and of coiurse World Golfers Championship in 2009.
